The Bengals’ New Uniforms: Definitely Better

The Cincinnati Bengals have unveiled their new look for 2021:

They’re pretty similar to what they currently have, but there are some noticeable differences:

The new uniforms are definitely cleaner and, in my opinion, more professional. I like the new number font more than the old one, for sure. It’s not my personal favorite but it’s a definite improvement. And the shoulders are a lot simpler and have less going on.

I’ve personally never been a fan of the Bengals’ uniforms. I’ve always thought they were tacky and trying to do too much. The tiger stripes make it look silly and juvenile, like an Arena League team or something.

I like this new trend of teams not trying to get too crazy with their uniforms. I’m glad a lot of teams are going back to a more simple, classic style. Like the Bucs: their old uniforms were atrocious.

Look at how awkward the numbers look. There is no rhyme or reason to those things at all. They’re offensive to the eyes. Their new ones are a lot better:

They went back to the basics. Clean, simple and traditional.

I’m just a fan of the old-school block number font. I think anything other than that is trash.

All this “modern” or “futuristic” stuff is awful.

I hate the Jets’ new uniforms:

The Jaguars might have the worst uniforms in the league, but at least they did away with that terrible two-toned helmet.

It’s funny that in the era of professionalization in sports, where sports have become billion-dollar businesses, and these teams probably pay companies like Nike tons of money to design the best uniforms, they still can’t hold a candle to the old-school uniforms of the 1970s and 1980s, when teams probably just had local fans submit designs in a contest.

Like how the Rams dumped their awesome uniforms:

For this “modernized” garbage:

Oh, cool. Looks like it was designed by the same clueless corporation that designed all the other horrible uniforms in the NFL. It’s so bland and generic. It looks so corporate. There’s no character at all.

Shocker that the teams with the best uniforms in the league–the Cowboys, the Steelers, the Packers, the Bears, the 49ers, the Raiders, the Colts–all sport classic looks that they really haven’t changed much over the decades.

I hope more teams go back to the classic style. Good for the Bengals in coming to their senses.
